Rose and Ross’ chic wedding in the West End of Glasgow

We’ve written before about how much we love The Engine Works - the place is a photographers dream. The lighting and location are perfect for capturing all those candid moments that documentary wedding photographers love. Not to mention the styling - those bare walls make the details pop. Rose & Ross’ wedding was a real family affair - Rose wore a handmade skirt sewn by her mum, Ross’ sister sang during the ceremony and a 90 year old bottle of whisky, a family heirloom, was handed down to Ross during the speeches.

These guys wanted their day to be relaxed and fun - as soon as we started talking Drag Race during bridal prep I knew that was exactly how the day would unfold. Getting to know the bridal party was lovely and there were plenty of special moments to capture as we moved toward the ceremony.

Glasgow University Memorial Chapel is an imposing space but the minister and staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, allowing us to get close for all the tiny but beautiful split-second looks during the ceremony.

After some natural and relaxed couple portraits at the Cloisters we headed over to The Engine Works for the reception, kicking off with a shower of bubbles right as Rose & Ross arrived. The Engine Works is one of our favourite places to shoot - the backdrops & styling are always gorgeous - and today the space was filled with laughter, music, pizza, dancing and even live painting. If that wasn’t enough there was a cake table featuring contributions from friends & family. The confetti floated down during their first dance (an acoustic cover of The Best, thank you Schitt’s Creek) and we were grateful to have been there to capture this Glasgow West End wedding.
