We love a sunset and the view at Kinkell Byre is one of the best in the business. Kinda like a frame from the end of a movie, don't you think?
When the sun shines and there's a field right next to your wedding venue...
The subtle details which catch the eye
It was one of those unexpectedly amazing Spring days we sometimes get here in Scotland and we took full advantage of the gorgeous, soft light which streamed over the hills on Cait & Paul's wedding day back in April. One of our favourite things to do (when not actually taking pictures) is looking for cool, interesting spots where we can take MORE pictures, and The Tin Shed certainly has these in abundance. Cait & Paul were game for wandering with us which we chased the light and we're delighted with what we captured. After the photos they rejoined their friends and family to mix, mingle and swap stories in the wam afternoon sunshine.Read More
In a city full of hidden doorways and winding lanes, The Caves is a venue more hidden than most. Tasha and David got married in this secret spot underneath the streets of Edinburgh, sharing the day with friends and family. Be sure to look at all the gorgeous details embroidered onto her beautiful dress.Read More
It doesn't get much better at shooting on a beach as sunset creeps in. Kelly & Jonathan asked us to shoot an engagement session for them ahead of their wedding at Kirknewton Stables, West Lothian. So we headed for the beach and found so many beautiful locations we could have shot long after the light faded.Read More
Heather and Iain celebrated their wedding surrounded by friends, families some amazing landscape. Autumn tones all around the Black Isle and the low, soft sunlight you only get in October - it was perfect.Read More
There's something about a white wall on a sunny day that is crying out for a pop of colour. We were surrounded by amazing tones & shades that day, from Laura's bold bouquet to Rob's pastel bow-tie. Not to mention the beautiful, fairy-lit surroundings at Cottier's Theatre, a truly incredible venue tucked away in the heart of the West End. This was such a fun wedding to shoot!Read More
With Christmas receding into the background and the blank canvas of 2017 ahead, its time for us to revisit what we captured over the last 12 months. The weather wasn't always great but the weddings were, without exception, and we felt privileged as ever to be there. Thanks as always to our families & friends, and of course to our excellent team of second shooters - Neil, Hannah, Lauren, Fiona, Martin, Claire & Stuart.Read More
This is one of those weddings full to the brim with photos to be taken. The smiles and moments between Jackie & Ben, a couple surrounded by family, friends and love. A golden retriever. Paper planes in place of confetti. There's the alternative and stylish city centre venue, right in the heart of Edinburgh - its amazing space for getting married. Beautiful rich colours decorating the space, a nod to the gallery's passion for creative, contemporary art. Jackie's dress & Ben's suit. Soft light and cobblestones. We barely stopped shooting.Read More
Sarah & James had a woodland wedding at Marthrown of Mabie in the Borders - the perfect backdrop for the natural, artistic images we love to create. They married in the heart of the forest among green leaves, long branches, hidden pathways and tall trees. There was a brass band, the ceremony was conducted by a close family friend and finally, a surprise reunion for James with a long-lost childhood toy. All this and dogs too.Read More
Ben & Lynsey's wedding was in summer, surrounded by friends, family & a meadow full of wildflowers. The stone walls and stone floors of a converted byre are old, probably centuries old, and now every year they fill up with cakes, flowers and stories. To be part of that is pretty special.Read More
Christie & Stuart are getting married soon at Kinkell Byre in St Andrews. We met them a few months ago on a gorgeous night in Edinburgh, went for a stroll, a chat and caught some beautiful evening light.Read More
Leaden, grey skies with a glimmer of sunlight is our absolute favourite. It was the perfect counterpoint to the bold, vibrant colours on display at Anna & Kyle's wedding. We've been lucky enough to shoot at Cardy Net House before, we loved it then and it didn't disappoint when we headed back. Its right on the coast and you can hear the waves and sea-birds during a garden ceremony. Beautiful.Read More
It was quiet in the forest. So still, so green and just the sound of the river Dee in the background. It was the perfect place to catch our breath on a late October day, just 5 minutes from the historic hunting lodge where Katie & Rob got married. Back at Mar Lodge their friends, family and dogs were waiting for them. The meal was yet to be served, the cake was uncut and the fireworks were still in their box, unlit. And here, in the forest, we stood among the trees and took pictures. It was a good day.Read More
